I'm not very good at running on ice, let alone walking, but wouldn't you know it I made it all the way round Richmond Park with my lovely running partner in crime, Sam, only to be tripped over by a damn dog which decided to bound in front of my legs, making me fall to my knees with a loud ahhhhhhhh and making the dog, squeal as I collapsed on top of it. I'm not too sure who came off worse, the dog or me, but my knees are now very bruised and sore. I hope the dog is okay ...
I defy anyone not to enjoy a brisk walk, run, cycle round Richmond Park and not enjoy it, despite being very chilly this morning, it's the best way to start the day with a bright blue sky and the sun shining. It reminds me of a day on the piste skiing in the Alps. Very smiley, happy today and feel almost smug.

Ah Mrs Martin, running on ice is indeed a treacherous business!! I have refrained from my weekend runs for some time now and this weekend was no exception, what with the icey pavements and frosty air..Bbbbrrr. It was cold up north! I am most impressed by your dedication and hope to follow in your footsteps soon when I kick start my winter training schedule this weekend! Tuesday night runs with Kelly's friend Amanda start again on January 5th..Ooooh I can't wait! Looking forward to getting fit again and preparing for next years challenges.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your winter training and I hope that smiley happy face takes you right through the winter into the spring!

Well Mrs Martin I have now managed two runs in the freezing baltic Glasgow weather, despite the snow and ice. I've discovered that fresh snow gives you a good grip underfoot although ricketey rocketey ice can cause ageing hips some discomfort. Thanks to Virgin Media, despite me not getting through the 2009 ballot for Virgin Media London Marathon 2010, I have a lovely red Virgin Media sporty jacket, perfect for winter running. So, back on the streets of Glasgow, smiling all the way..
ReplyDeleteHappy running! xx
